The ProNET-4 system is a 4 Mbps, token-ring network compatible with theIEEE 802.5 standard, including the IBM Token Ring Network extensions.The p1542 VMEbus interface provides token-ring networking for workstationsystems. System features include:

Compatibility with IBM Token-Ring Network interfaces for IBM PC, RT

PC, IBM 9370, Multibus, and MicroVAX machines.

IBM-certified TMS380 chipset from Texas Instruments.
Media independence: IBM cabling system, optical fiber, and broadband.
Compatibility with existing TCP/IP software.

The p1542 ProNET-4 interface provides a true full-duplex controller forthe workstation VMEbus with an integral DMA controller. The interfacehas 18 KB of packet buffers, which are divided between receive andtransmit under program control.
